THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS:
National Public Lands Day: Tree Planting on the National Forest
This service event focuses on restoring native vegetation to High Park Fire and pine beetle damaged National Forest campgrounds in the Cache la Poudre Canyon.
Youth and adults are invited to join us for this meaningful half- day of outdoor stewardship at Mountain Park and Lower Narrows Campgrounds. These campgrounds are located along the Cache la Poudre River, ground zero for the High Park Fire, and just an hour west of Fort Collins. Join our silviculturists in planting pondorosa pine seedlings along with a variety of native shrubs. Choose which campground you would like to work in for the event. Carpooling is encouraged. All participants will meet at Mountain Park Campground for a brief orientation. Lower Narrows Campground is five minutes away from Mountain Park. We'll provide all tools and hardhats. Wear close-toed shoes and long pants, and bring rain gear (just in case!) and water for the morning. Bring the family- we're inviting everyone from ages four on up! There will also be a forest ecology scavenger hunt, and archeology CSI and wildfire ecology booths to check out. We're providing a free catered hot lunch for all participants. You'll also get a free National Parks day pass and a special NPLD commemorative gift.
