NPS Design Course for Sustainable Mountain Trails-Advanced

Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI)

Location Trainees should arrive at the trail shop each morning at 8 am. Participants should bring water, lunch and appropriate gear for being outdoors in the mountains for 8 hours. Entrance and camping fees will be waived for trainees, camping will be available at Moraine Park Camp Ground for those in need and there is no fee for this training.

Description

Trail assessment, planning and design.

The Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) will present a 2-day ADVANCED course for individuals interested in learning successful tools and techniques for the assessment, planning, design and implementation of high-use, multiple-use mountain trails, according to sustainability criteria. The training will be taught using a variety of classroom lecture and discussion, field exercises, demonstrations, and group activities. The workshop is designed for individuals who have had previous trail experience and are familiar with the basic principles of trail design and construction. This meaningful training is free to the public.
