Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC)

PDF Print E-mail

Ordinary citizens.  Extraordinary natural resources.  Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) brings these two Colorado resources together on well-managed, large-scale volunteer stewardship projects on local, state and federal public lands.

VOC also shares expertise and resources, helping establish organizations like the Colorado 14ers Initiative and Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers. Through the Outdoor Stewardship Institute, VOC develops tools to help land managers and other non profits effectively manage volunteers and outdoor volunteer events.

VOC motivates and enables citizens to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.

People help the land and in turn the land helps people, bringing them together, giving them a sense of accomplishment and building an ethic of stewardship.

Community Stewardship

Stewardship Projects - VOC stages 20-25 high-priority projects annually throughout Colorado. Children, youth and adults participate in, and even help plan and manage these events ranging in size from 10 to 1,000 and lasting a morning to a week.

VOC Youth - Colorado’s future stewards learn teamwork, leadership and project management as they give back. Cairn provides year-round leadership challenges and service opportunities. Youth SWAT (Stewardship with a Team) engages  community youth and school groups. Youth are also important participants in classic projects and plan youth only projects.

SWAT (Stewardship with a Team) - Corporate teams and community groups get involved through flexible volunteer work days tailored to the group’s needs.
